Mother's Day 2009

Berry College 10K & 5K
My longtime runny buddy, Daniel, and his son Jacob, joined Colton and I at Berry College. Daniel and I tackled the 10K and Colton and Jacob, the 5K. It was Daniel's 40th birthday which made the day even more special!
Colton finished 11th overall -- he hasn't been training, that's just lacing up his shoes and going for a run -- proving that his natural ability just needs some fine tuning in order to reach scholarship levels.

Gone but not forgotten
If one thing was reinforced in me after Grampie's death it was to get involved in my community and to try to make the world a better place than I found it. He did. He was a proud American -- even though he was so sick and near the end of his life, he still made a point to vote in November's election and requested God Bless America be sung at his funeral. I searched out volunteer opportunities and have become very involved with Forgotten Soldiers Outreach. The organization sends monthly care packages to soldiers deployed overseas -- no matter where they are. I hold an "event coordinator" volunteer position and have earned a bio on their website as a result. You can check out my bio by visiting http://www.forgottensoldiers.org/aboutus-people.shtml

If you know of someone deployed overseas, please register them to receive care packages -- it's free! We work hard to raise money by holding fundraising events and asking for individual donations. You can learn more by exploring their site. Please help me spread the word about this amazing organization!

I've been lousy at posting pics lately...so sorry about that. Things are good here though. Colton's doing well and I'm still employed. In this economy I don't know that one can ask for more than that! I'm training to run the Nashville Half again this year. Very excited! Colton and I are running a race (him 5K, me 10k) on March 7, then I'm going to do the ING Half at the end of March as a "training" run prepping for Nashville. All in all I'm feeling stronger and running faster than I have to date...fingers crossed that I achieve my under two hour goals!

I've attached a link to my recent photo uploads. Some are from my trip to Massachusetts when my grandfather passed away. Others are nights out with Lizzie and friends or happy hours with work peeps. The larger my smile the more alcohol I've consumed (generally) -- lots of crazy, silly pics!
